For nearly two decades, Triet Nguyen has been the go-to IP strategist for innovators, from disruptive startups to established enterprises. He delivers comprehensive, visionary intellectual property (IP) solutions, ensuring your technology is not only protected but positioned for market dominance.
Triet’s approach is grounded in his time as a software engineer in Silicon Valley at Sun Microsystems and the Kleiner Perkins-funded startup, Zaplet. This hands-on experience allows him to quickly grasp complex innovations and create patents that are technically precise and legally sound. As he observes, “Patents are the DNA of innovation. They are how your technology secures its place, becoming the indispensable lifeblood of your company's growth.”
Triet couples legal expertise with a command of advanced technology, including:
Artificial Intelligence & Applied Data Processing: Machine Learning, AI, Computer Vision, and Augmented Reality.
Enterprise, Cloud & Quantum: Cloud and Network Computing, Distributed Data Platforms, Quantum Computing, and Enterprise Software.
Hardware & Mobility: Semiconductors, Standard Essential Wireless Technologies, Mobile Devices, Medical Devices, and AR/VR headsets.
He also advises clients on trademark and copyright applications to ensure complete brand and content protection.
Triet manages global patent prosecution for multi-family patent applications in the U.S. and key international jurisdictions. For international clients, he provides critical risk mitigation services, including:
Developing comprehensive U.S. patent filing and market entry strategies.
In-depth analysis of U.S. competitors’ patents to identify threats and opportunities.
Initiating license negotiations to proactively resolve infringement risks.
Triet’s background in patent litigation is his greatest advantage when crafting applications. His direct experience in court, which includes supporting the plaintiff’s side for an appellate patent infringement case at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and representing the defense in a multiparty patent infringement suit against a Non-Practicing Entity in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, provides him with essential foresight. He anticipates and avoids the potential pitfalls of future legal challenges, allowing him to build patents that are better positioned to withstand litigation.
The intellectual challenge of patent law, coupled with the constant learning required to stay ahead of the curve, is what truly drives Triet. He thrives on mastering new technologies, which allows him to ensure his clients always receive the most future-oriented advice.
Beyond his practice, Triet is committed to his community. He has served on the University of California at Irvine (UCI) Esports leadership board, sharing his network and IP guidance with the program’s athletes.
Outside of his professional life, he is a hobbyist musician, enjoys traveling, and cherishes time with his two daughters.
