Neal Hoopes

Attorney at Law Associate

Neal’s practice focuses primarily on business and intellectual property litigation. Prior to joining Maschoff Brennan, Neal was a law clerk to Chief Judge Timothy Tymkovich on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Justice Thomas Lee on the Utah Supreme Court. This experience gave Neal a thorough understanding of both the state and federal judiciaries and prepared him to litigate in a wide variety of practice areas.

Neal graduated summa cum laude and Order of the Coif from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he was Lead Articles Editor on the BYU Law Review. Neal was also a member of the BYU Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, helping experienced appellate advocates write merits briefs and petitions for certiorari before the United States Supreme Court. During school and his clerkships, Neal authored and published three academic articles—one of which received the John. S. Welch Award for Outstanding Legal Writing, first place.

Neal also spent time as a summer associate at two prominent international law firms in Washington, D.C. and Seoul, Korea.

Outside the office, Neal enjoys spending time with his wife and sons, reading (mostly history and biographies), hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and playing sports.
