Maren Laurence


Maren practices in all areas of intellectual property litigation with a focus on patent, trademark, and trade secret cases. Maren assists clients in a diverse range of industries in complex patent infringement cases and trade secret misappropriation lawsuits. She also handles intellectual property transactions and has assisted with matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

While in law school, Maren worked at Maschoff Brennan as a summer associate and law clerk. Additionally, she served as a judicial extern for Judge Jill M. Pohlman at the Utah Court of Appeals and worked at the University of Utah Technology & Venture Commercialization Office as a contract associate, handling contract negotiations and license agreements for materials and intellectual property. During her third year of law school, Maren served as Executive Text Editor for the Utah Law Review and competed in several moot courts, including: the Giles S. Rich Moot Court Competition, the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, and the Traynor Moot Court Competition, in which she was a semi-finalist. Maren graduated from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and earned her Certificate of Specialized Study in Intellectual Property Law.

Prior to Maren’s legal career, she was a professional classical musician, performing in orchestras and as a soloist. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London earning her master’s degree in harp performance. She also enjoys cooking and exploring Utah’s mountains by hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
