Kevin K. Johanson and Jason P. Nixon Join Maschoff Brennan

Maschoff Brennan added two attorneys to its Salt Lake City office including Kevin K. Johanson and Jason P. Nixon. Both attorneys focus on patent prosecution.

Johanson advises clients regarding patent portfolio strategies and works on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications.  Kevin is experienced in foreign and domestic IP procurement and management, patent portfolio management, due diligence evaluations non-infringement and invalidity opinions, product clearance analysis, pre-litigation evaluations and strategic counseling for asserting patent rights or responding to patent infringement allegations.

He aggressively defends his client’s patents and has challenged the validity of patents owned by competitors. He received his J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law and his M.S. and B.S. in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University. He’s been listed in the IAM Patent 1000.

Nixon’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks, copyrights, intellectual property licensing and intellectual property litigation. He received his J.D. from Lewis and Clark School of Law and his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Utah. His engineering experience includes algorithm development, wireless communication, signal and image processing and more.

Prior to joining Maschoff Brennan, Nixon worked for two other Salt Lake City-based law firms and he was also an electric engineer for Ornicon Sygenex Corporation. He’s been named to Mountain States Super Lawyers as a Rising Star and also to Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite list.
