Danny is an IP litigator with a background in both science and business. His practice focuses on business litigation including patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright and trade secret claims. Mr. Barber also advises startup clients on intellectual property portfolio strategies.

Mr. Barber’s business litigation experience includes asserting patents, and defending clients against patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright, and trade secret misappropriation claims. Mr. Barber has been involved in cases related to a variety of products and technologies, ranging from cases asserting trademark rights in the use of “COMIC-CON”, to cases asserting copyrights related to consumer products and computer code.

Mr. Barber’s business training also enables him to provide guidance to emerging businesses on intellectual property portfolio strategies. This advice is tailored to each startup’s business model, enabling startups to accurately understand the various protections available, and increase the value of their venture. This advice both protects competitive positions, and increase business valuation through informed and prioritized intellectual property investment.

Prior to joining Maschoff Brennan, Mr. Barber interned for Judge Carolyn B. McHugh of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Barber also worked in the Center for Biomedical Sciences at the University of Utah.

Outside of work, Danny enjoys exploring Utah’s Wasatch mountains, golfing, and spending time with his family.
